THE Basingstoke Bison suffered a rare defeat as they lost 6-3 at the Peterborough Phantoms.
Greg Owen scored the Herd's only goal of the first two periods as the Bison trailed 5-1.
Jaroslav Cesky and Joe Miller closed the gap early in the third, but that was as close as they got.
A hat-trick from Maris Ziedins along with singles from Will Weedon. Tom Carlon and Luke Ferrara made sure of the victory for the home side.
It adds extra spice to this Saturday's game when the Phantoms travel to Basingstoke.
See Thursday's Gazette for a full match report and preview of the Phantoms visit.
