BASINGSTOKE RFC maintained their winning run in London One South - but missed out on a bonus point against basement side Old Colfeians.
Strong rain and a heavy pitch proved to be a real leveller at Down Grange on Saturday afternoon and both sides struggled in an attritional first half, Basingstoke leading 6-0 at the break thanks to two Ash Paterson penalties.
The hosts had a good spell after the break, with converted tries from Will Ford and Paterson extending the lead to 20 points - but they failed to go on and claim the four-try bonus point. The visitors got a late try themselves, making the final score 20-5.
