SOME of the country's top minigolf players will be at Basingstoke Golf Centre on Sunday, contesting the British Club Championship Miniature Golf Tournament.

The tournament is organised by the British Minigolf Association and will be the first official event held on the centre's nine-hole minigolf course, which opened earlier this year.

A total of 12 teams, including sides from Basingstoke Minigolf Club and Hampshire Minigolf Club, will compete in the day-long matchplay competition, which gets underway at 9am.

Each team will consist of three or four players, with the best three scores on each hole counting as the team total. These totals will then be compared to find the winner of each hole in matchplay format.

Sean Homer, chairman of the BMGA, said: “We are delighted to be holding this event at Basingstoke Golf Centre. The new course should provide a great challenge to all of the teams and it promises to be an exciting, hard fought competition.”
