Sunday teams endure mixed fortunes in cup competitions
1:00pm Thursday 22nd November 2012 in Sport By Tony Spencer
AN INJURY time winner completed Clatford Arms’ comeback as local side CI were knocked out of the North Hants Senior Cup, going down 4-3 last Sunday.
It had looked so good for CI before the break as goals from Paul Adams, Keith Davies and Matt Jones had gave them a 3-0 lead.
Sambuca travelled to Wolves Saints in the North Hants Chris Price Cup and went down 5-1. Their only reply came after Ben Harris was unceremoniously bundled over in the box and skipper Jason Freethy buried the resulting penalty.
Sporting Silchester moved into the next round, taking advantage of the fact that Hammer and Tongs were reduced to 10 men through injuries, winning 8-1.
Andy Ramsden got a pair, one a 35-yard volley, while Ian Cadman, Dean Scott and Tyrone Aldridge all netted and Kevin Hill converted a penalty.
