Neo Botha with her medal.
NEO Botha has become the first female member of Overton and Basingstoke Taekwondo to win a medal at the British Taekwondo National Championships in Manchester.
Botha played really well to take a well deserved silver medal in the female cadet under 37kg division. Despite initially going behind, she fought a strong semi-final to eventually come out the winner 11-4.
In the final Botha faced a player from Black Widow Taekwondo and it was a very even match until the close of the second round, when Botha was caught with a head shot, which she countered with an excellent back kick to the head.
Unfortunately the referee had called break as she kicked so the counter did not score and she was also deducted.
This gave the player from Black Widow an unassailable lead. Botha fought hard in the final round but was unable to pull back the points.
