Employee discount card now offers further perks

10:30am Tuesday 19th February 2008

SANDFORD Springs Golf Club, the Lime Leaf Thai Restaurant, Templegate Financial Planning and BCOT's Robert Newman Restaurant are the latest businesses to introduce offers through the PERK discount card.

The employer membership scheme, which provides access to more than £2,000 worth of offers at 32 outlets around the Basingstoke area, currently has in excess of 8,000 PERK card holders.

It is run by Destination Basingstoke - a not-for-profit marketing company for Basingstoke and Deane - and supported by the borough council, University of Winchester and Festival Place, as well as major retail names such as Boots, Sainsbury's and Marks & Spencer.

Through the scheme, Sandford Springs Golf Club, near Kingsclere, is offering £500 off the cost of membership, as well as free B&B and golf at partner courses, to those who produce their PERK card when signing up. It is also offering four-for-three golf deals, and discounts on winter specials, as well as free wine with the Sunday carvery.

Beverley Flanagan, chairman of the Destination Basingstoke board, said: "This is the single most valuable offer we have available with the PERK card, and it is indicative of the momentum the card has gained.

"More and more people have a card, with an even bigger variety of places to use it."

The recently opened Lime Leaf Thai Restaurant, in London Street, Basingstoke, is offering up to £10 off food, while the Robert Newman Restaurant, at BCOT's Worting Road campus, is offering a free bottle of wine with lunch or dinner for four or more people.

Meanwhile, Templegate Financial Planning is offering free consultations and 10 per cent discount on products.

Mrs Flanagan said: "When we started PERK, it was mainly about making it easier to afford the little luxuries in life.

"Now the range of offers is so wide, it can even help in sorting out your personal finances!"

PERK card membership is available for businesses who want to give their employees a little bit extra to reward their hard work and loyalty.

Membership is for 12 months and fees are dependent on the number of employees.
