CHURCHES Together in South Ham - St Andrew's, St Joseph's and St Peter's are having a harvest celebration and picnic on Saturday, on St Peter's Green, on the Paddock Road side, starting at 12.30pm.

Bring your own lunch and something to sit on. Tea and coffee will be provided.

At 1.15pm there will be an ecumenical service lasting about 45 minutes, this will be followed by games for the children.

There is no entrance fee. However, if people would like to bring toiletry items, they will be given to the Camrose Resource Centre, in Vyne Road, Basingstoke.

ON THURSDAY, September 25, at St Mary's, in Overton, there will be a licensing service for the Rev Ian Smale by the Bishop of Basingstoke.

THE Patronal Festival at St Mary's, Silchester, will be on Sunday, at 10am. The service will be led by the Rev Kenneth Batt.

In the afternoon, teas will be available between 2pm and 5.30pm, and Robina Rand will give two of her popular talks on the history of the church, at 2pm and 4pm, and quiet music will be played for an hour from 3pm.

During the day, there will be a photographic display around the church. Everyone is welcome.
