A ROAD is set to be closed for more than six months from this week.

As part of work by South Eastern Water, Bramley Road, near Little London, will be closed for around 27 weeks, from its junction with Silchester Road and to where the road meets Aldermaston Road.

The work is to lay a new pipeline along Bramley Road and is part of a £182,000 scheme which began on Monday, 16 October.

The latest section of work is due to begin on Wednesday, 1 November, and though Bramley Road will be closed, access to homes and businesses will be maintained.

Matthew Cooper, project manager at South East Water, said: “I would like to thank local residents, businesses and motorists for their patience while the first section of our work along Bramley Road took place.

“We now need to continue laying the new pipe along Bramley Road. We know roadworks are frustrating and the decision to close a road is not taken lightly but this is the only way we can keep the public and our workforce safe.”

“We would urge motorists who normally use this route to follow the official diversion via Little London Road – Pamber Road – Silchester Road – Pamber Heath Road – Rowan Road and Aldermaston Road.”
