THE traffic lights on the Black Dam Roundabout failed to work for the second time since it re-opened with a new layout.
Motorists faced long queues at the Basingstoke roundabout this morning after police were called to help control the traffic to try and prevent any accidents from happening again.
The last time the lights were out last Wednesday two people were injured in accidents.
Police confirmed that they were called to the roundabout at 6.49am when all the traffic lights were out.
They sent units to help control the traffic, and closed off the middle section of the roundabout.
Highways England was called to deal with the problem but said it is not yet aware what caused the fault. Engineers are currently on site.
Power to some of the lights was restored at 7.49am, and the lights were fully back on again by 8.52am.
Drivers took to social media to vent their frustrations, with one motorists describing the incident as "pandemonium".
The roundabout opened with a new layout on February 9 following a major £11million transformation.
