TEMPERATURES will plunge tonight across Hampshire, with the county set to experience icy conditions.
Gritters will be working across the county with temperatures set to plummet as low as -2°C following recent mild conditions.
The Met Office has reported that conditions will become steadily colder throughout the afternoon.
In its report for tonight, the agency said conditions will be: "cold and windy with showers continuing through the evening.
"Becoming increasingly dry and clear through the night, with winds easing allowing a frost to develop with some icy patches possible."
Hampshire County Council said its teams will be out spreading salt on main routes in north Hampshire from 9pm tonight and they will be on standby in the south.
The Met Office said colder temperatures will continue throughout the rest of the week, with widespread frosts.
