SIGNALLING problems are causing chaos for thousands of rail passengers this morning.

Faults at London Waterloo mean services to the station from Hampshire are facing "significant" delays while some more local services are being cancelled.

South West Trains says the issue is a failure with the "track circuit" which allows signallers to see where trains are on the network.

And the failure means trains trying to get to some platforms at Waterloo will now need to use the fast line normally used by services from Basingstoke and Portsmouth.

South West Trains says these services can expect "significant" delays, with the disruption set to last until at least mid-morning.

Engineers are currently on site to fix the problem.
