Empty Winchester shops let to new tenants
COMMERCIAL Property Agents, London Clancy report good demand for shop space in Winchester city centre.
They highlight two recent lettings to show that Winchester is battling through the recession.
An empty shop in Upper Brook Street, previously Just for Fun fancy dress shop, has been let to Chinatown Supermarkets at a rent of £30,000 a year on a ten-year lease.
Letting agent Jo Keene said: “The letting to Chinatown Supermarkets is a vote of confidence in Winchester and followed a good deal of interest in the property since it became vacant in February this year.”
Also just completed this September is the letting to Bodega in Parchment Street, a ground floor shop unit of 484 sq ft, previously let to People Like Us, in the well-established boutique/ independent retailers shopping area.
Let on a new 10-year lease at close to the quoting rent of £14,500 a year, the property is due to become an Italian delicatessen.
Jim Sawyer of London Clancy said: “This letting has enforced Parchment Street’s reputation as a specialist area for good quality retail.”
