INTERNATIONAL best-selling author, playwright and broadcaster Kate Mosse was the guest speaker at a literary lunch in Winchester.

Last Friday’s event, in aid of children’s charity Barnardo’s, was held at The Holiday Inn and raised £2,600.

Mrs Mosse, best known for her 2005 novel Labyrinth, also spoke about her new book Citadel, due to be published later this month. Set during World War Two in the south of France, Citadel is the story of an all-female group of resistance fighters.

Penyards Lettings & Property Management supported the event, which was organised by Winchester Barnardo’s Helpers Group, which raises funds in and around Winchester. Barnardo’s aims to tackle a range of issues affecting children, such as child poverty, sexual exploitation, disability and domestic violence.
