Monkey Centre at Marwell Wildlife is recognised with cash grant
AN academic working at Marwell Zoo has received a cash boost in recognition of her work.
Comparative psychologist Dr Bridget Waller has established the world's first cognitive study centre for rare Sulawesi crested macaques and has been awarded a grant of £10,000 by the British Psychological Society. Dr Waller, of Portsmouth University, said: “The interactive research centre offers the scientific community and the public visiting Marwell Wildlife a unique and invaluable opportunity to study these fascinating animals.”
The monkeys at the centre interact with computer touch screens, providing scientists with a window into their memory, communication skills and emotion.
