MEON Valley MP George Hollingbery has taken the first step up the ministerial ladder by his appointment as aide to the home secretary.

Mr Hollingbery has been made PPS to Theresa May in the recent reshuffle.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted the home secretary has asked me to help her out. It is fascinating to be able to see the workings of the great offices of state.”

Grant Schapps, Conservative Party Chairman, said of the PPS appointments: “These are some of the brightest and the best of the Conservative Party and their appointments are testament to their hard work and dedication.”
It’s the second piece of good news for Mr Hollingbery who won the seat in 2010.

The Meon Valley constituency has been at risk of the boundary changes but the spat between the coalition partners has eased the threat.

Mr Hollingbery said: “It looks 95 per cent off the agenda. For my volunteers and supports I’m delighted.”

Recently Mark Hoban, MP for Fareham, was promoted to minister of state at the Department of Work and Pensions.
