AN ELDERLY couple were threatened by three masked men who pushed their way into their home before making off with a purse and cash in a late night burglary.

Hampshire police is appealing for information following the aggravated burglary which took place on Main Road, in Hursley between 10pm and 10.15pm on Wednesday, February 7.

The couple, a 75-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man, were at the property when they answered the door to see the men outside.

The men then pushed their way into the house before threatening the occupants.

The suspects stole a purse containing bank cards and a small amount of cash.

The three men are described as being in their late teens or early 20s. They were dressed all in dark clothing with their faces obscured.

Local residents have reported that they saw motorcycles in the area acting suspiciously prior to the incident.

Detective Constable Adam Merrick said: “I would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area at the time of the incident or from anyone with a dash cam who was driving in the area at the relevant time.

“I am also urging members of the public to consider fitting a security chain on their doors and to use them if they are unsure who is at the door. If at all concerned, do not open the door.”
