A HAMPSHIRE motorway was closed in both directions and the air ambulance has been closed following a three-car crash.
The M3 was shut between junctions 9 and 10 after the incident, which happened at about 11am, with one person trapped inside their car.
The southbound carriageway has now been reopened, along with one lane of the northbound carriageway.
Highways England describes the crash as a "serious collision" and said an air ambulance has landed on the road.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We were called at 11.04am to a road traffic collision involving three cars.
"Engines from Eastleigh, Winchester and Redbridge are on the scene. One person in the third vehicle has become trapped with an extrication taking place."
A witness told the Daily Echo that a van has crashed into the back of a truck and that firefighters are currently trying to cut a person from the van.
Traffic is building in both directions and drivers are advised to check their routes before travelling.
