CHARITY card organisers Pam Chrismas and Cathy Wallis are making final preparations for the start of the Annual Christmas Card Market which opens at Winchester Tourist Information Centre this Thursday, October 26.

The Winchester Combined Charities Christmas Card Market has been running in the city for over 30 years. This year more than 50 charities will benefit from selling their cards to local people as well as tourists who pour into Winchester for the annual Christmas festivities.

The unusual retail project is a huge volunteer-run event: from the market organisers and its committee, to the shop staff who are recruited from the charities who take the opportunity to sell their cards.

“I think what people like most about the Charity Card Market is that all the money raised goes directly back to the charities involved. We offer a massive choice of cards in one place and because there are no “middle-men” in the sales chain it’s a very good way of raising funds for local organisations,” said Cathy.

The Charity Christmas Card Shop is run at Winchester Tourist Information Centre. It is open Monday to Saturday from now Thursday, October 26 until Saturday December 16, 10am to 4.30pm.
