TWO Winchester alcohol thieves have been convicted and ordered to compensate the stores they targeted.
John Tyler, 42, of St Martins Close, Winnall, admitted stealing a bottle of wine valued at £8.50 from M&S on June 6.
He was told to pay back £8.50 to M&S and £20 costs.
William Telford, 55, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of cider, valued at £1.99 from Aldi on June 20.
Magistrates in Basingstoke ordered he pay £1.99 in compensation.
Telford also admitted being drunk and disorderly in Jewry Street on June 25 and failing to attend court on July 11.
He was fined £50 a £30 victim surcharge.
