A TEENAGER is riding more than 230 miles in memory of her best friend.

Lucy Harley from Steventon, is riding from Winchester to Cornwall in memory of Allegra Whittome.

Allegra was a Year 11 pupil at St Swithun’s girls’ school in Winchester and died suddenly in February, 2015.

The ride will raise funds for Allegra’s Ambition set up in her memory to help young people enhance their lives through sport and outdoor activities.

Lucy, 17, said: “Allegra was the happiest, kindest person, who adored all animals, sport and outdoor activity, and everyone who knew her loved her. While my Ride for Allegra is mainly to raise money, it’s also to remember her as she was my best friend and I miss her very much.”

Lucy and her pony Wella aim to tackle 15 miles a day. Mum Katy will follow with a trailer and kit.

The ride started on July 19, and it will finish on August 24.

She was waved off by headmistress at Prince’s Mead School in Winchester Penny Kirk and adventurer William Reddaway who rode around Britain on his own epic journey two years ago.

Lucy is halfway to raising £5,000. To sponsor visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Lucy-Harley1
