AN ADORABLE two-month-old Sulawesi crested macaque conceals himself from prying eyes as he is too young to leave his mother.

The baby monkey will cling tightly to his mother Satana for four months until he gains enough strength to find his own way in its enclosure at Marwell Zoo near Winchester.

Claire Mound, the zoo’s team leader for primates and small mammals, said: “As a first-time mother Satana has been exemplary so far. She is very sweet natured and having the infant has only made this more noticeable.”

The baby is part of the European Endangered Species Breeding Programme (EEP) which conserves species and avoids extinction.

The public have voted to call him Masamba.
