"HAVE they no shame?"

A Winchester landlady has spoken of her anger after a building company has left scaffolding at one of her properties for nearly six months.

Brigid Brett, of Little Hayes Lane, Itchen Abbas, said Winchester Guttering and Roofing sent sub-contractor Horizon Roofing Property Management to retile part of the roof in March.

The 67-year-old said part of the £1,600 work wasn't completed and she had to cough up more money for chimney and TV aerial repairs. At one stage she was worried about losing her tenants.

The scaffolding remains at the property in Omdurman Road, Southampton, and Mrs Brett said neither workmen are answering her.

"I'm extremely frustrated that they can't just go round there and get it or answer my emails," she said.

"I have got very cross. I don't know what to do, I can't take it down myself. Have they no shame these people?"

Mike Parsons, owner of Winchester Guttering, said his firm only operates in Winchester so he subcontracted the job to Horizon, owned by Dash Duraku.

"He is actually very reliable," Mr Parsons said.

"Dash would be upset if he knew that.

"I have got so many lovely people and customers and I cannot understand. If I do a job I never have any come backs whatsoever."

Mr Parsons said he would call Mr Duraku to answer the Chronicle's request for comment. He has not responded.

The incident comes weeks after the same two firms were questioned by Winchester resident Maureen Hilling, of Abbotts Barton.

She said they left a sack of rubbish on her lawn for six months, and after calls from the Chronicle it was removed.

At the time of writing the scaffolding remained at Mrs Brett's property.
