THE creator of a popular TV series is set to make an appearance at an event near Winchester.

Mastermind of Downton Abbey, Julian Fellows, will speak at Pinglestone Barn, Old Alresford, on June 19, as part of a charity initiative.

He has been invited by Lord and Lady Wakeham to help raise funds for Age UK Winchester and tickets are selling out fast.

The charity chairman, John Edwards, said: “We are really excited at the prospect of an evening with Julian Fellowes. It will be the highlight of our fundraising year. Pinglestone Barn is wonderful venue, set in beautiful Hampshire countryside just outside Alresford, and we are grateful for Lord and Lady Wakeham’s generosity in hosting the event.

“The charity now helps around 600 older people a year through its Lunch Clubs, Help at Home service and Information and Advice. We are an independent, local charity and without our volunteers, donations and fundraising we simply couldn't deliver our services. All the money raised at Pinglestone will go directly to our services for older people in the area.”

Tickets for the event, which starts at 6pm, cost £25 and include fizz and canapés.
