THEY couldn’t have planned for the weather to be better when they unveiled their new city centre beer garden.

And despite the stifling 22 degrees, pub managers didn’t complain at the official launch party of their Winchester refurbishment.

Alfie’s, in the High Street, has undergone major £500,000 renovation works since they were taken over by the City Pub Company, when the lease was sold by previous owner Colin Clark.

Now they have celebrated their hard work with a pat-on-the-back and given thanks to their many supporters.

Manager Craig Friswell said: “It’s just to show we have opened the garden and everything we have been working on is now completed.

“It’s showing they have completed the works and it’s now up and running as they had wanted it to be. It’s a thank you to the suppliers and getting them to see we have got their ales on and to see what we have done is new and fresh.

“We think it’s up there now with one of the best gardens in the city centre and we’re really proud of what we’ve achieved.”
