THE May Bank Holiday brings the chance to revel in instrumental heritage with the Festival of Mechanical Organs.
On May 4, from 11am-4pm, the grounds of Winchester Cathedral will be awash with at least 14 historic organs to help raise funds for the site’s medieval stained-glass windows.
Admission is free but there will be a collection going around.
It is one of only a handful of such events held in the south of Britain each year which sees organs amassed, some of which date back as far as 1878.
Visitors will not only enjoy their melodies but will also have the chance to learn how to play them.
