A NOBEL Peace Prize winner will speak at the University of Winchester ahead of a two-day conference for young people.

Prof Jody Williams will give a lecture entitled Finding the Balance: Security and Human Rights in the Contemporary World, setting the scene for the PeaceJam Conference.

It aims to inspire students from local schools and colleges to become the next generation of peace builders.

In 1997, Prof Williams was jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, of which she was chief strategist.

The lecture is on Friday March 6 at 6.30pm at The Stripe at the King Alfred Campus in Sparkford Road. Tickets cost £10, to book go online at winchester.ac.uk/events.
