STROKE survivors in Chandler’s Ford celebrated the first birthday of a support charity which continues their care after hospital.
Chandler’s Ford Stroke Association provides professional physiotherapy and speech training after the brain attacks strike.
Sufferers and their carers can also meet others who have had similar experiences.
Steve Brine, Winchester and Chandler’s Ford MP, joined the celebrations and trialled physiotherapy offered to survivors.

The group, which has 10 members, formed at the Velmore Centre last year using funds from the Chandler’s Ford and Itchen Valley Rotary Club.
Mike Scrivener, chairman, said the group provides ongoing support after the NHS has completed its care.
He said: “People who’ve had a stroke, unfortunately, are given a very short period of time for assistance after [they’ve] had the stroke and are leaving hospital – sometimes it’s less than a few days before you’re sent out on your own.
“This is a continual support for people who’ve had a stroke.”
More than 35,000 people in Hampshire are suffering disability after a stroke.
