ARMED with rolling pins and dressed in their finest chef whites Alresford children battled it out to win a competition aimed at rewarding little chefs.

Pupils at Sun Hill Junior School cooked up a feast for the Young Chef Competition, sponsored by the Alresford Rotary.

Judges were presented with four tables adorned with an elaborate display of dishes including canapés and mini-desserts.

Head teacher Neil MacKenzie and deputy Emma Reeve welcomed Jon McKenzie and Stephen Pinch of the Rotary who were joined by Claire Imhofe and Kate Walton of the Parents Teachers Association to judge presentation, originality of the names of their creations, bake quality and taste.

Book tokens and stationery were presented to the winners and runner-ups.

Erin was the upper school canapé winner and Lauren came second, while Lottie took home first for her dessert and Chloe was named runner-up.

Grace and India came first and second respectively in the lower school canapé section while Finton and Vikki were awarded for the desserts.
