RESIDENTS at The Dower House nursing home in Headbourne Worthy were treated to a nostalgic journey through fashion earlier this month.

Karen Fitzsimmons, owner of Winchester vintage fashion shop Stardust Years, visited the care home with a collection of clothes from the 1920’s to the 1960’s.

Of the seven dresses on show, a highlight was a cream gown previously worn by Glenda Jackson.

The event ended with tea and home-made cake, and was a great success.

Carol-Anne Bailey, activities co-ordinator at The Dower House, said: “It was heartening to see the residents respond to the various dresses with reminiscences of their own.

"I am delighted to, once again, be able to provide quality entertainment. It is always a pleasure to work with local businesses to produce a fabulous afternoon for our residents.”

Ms Fitzsimmons from Stardust Years said: “It was a great honour to be asked to come to The Dower House.

"We were able to bring six fabulous eras from the Roaring Twenties and their flapper fashion to The Sixties where Jackie Kennedy Onassis exuded style, elegance and grace."
