1. Winchester Science Centre single's night - Friday

Guests will enjoy canapés, a welcome drink, a planetarium show and a range of activities. The cost of a ticket also includes a curry (including vegetarian option). There will be a range of fun introductory games. Tickets are £20 and are available at winchestersciencecentre.org.

2. Exhibition on the classic trench coat - All weekend

Running until December 2, curator Tara McKinney hosts a free contemporary exhibition in Winchester to explore how the iconic trench coat has evolved humble beginnings in Hampshire. The Winchester Discovery Centre event is free. Call 0845 6035635 for more details.

3. US metal band He Is Legend perform at The Railway Inn - Saturday

Hampshire Chronicle:

The band released their fourth studio album ‘Heavy Fruit’ earlier this year. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets cost £12 (on the door). 

4. Hampshire Constabulary will celebrate Black History Month - Saturday and Sunday

An exhibition of key events that have affected our diverse communities, tours of the control room and talks from key speakers in the community. Hampshire Constabulary Training Headquarters, Netley, Southampton, 10am-4pm.

5. Up-and-coming comedian Hal Cruttenden is at Winchester Discovery Centre - Sunday

Hal was originally due to perform on October 4 as part of Winchester Comedy Festival, but the event was rescheduled. Footballers, Facebook and food are just three of the topics that Hal covers with his unique mix of camp, warm and catty humour. Tickets cost £12 (tickets booked for the original date will be honoured for this new date). 

6. Dever Art Group’s Art and Crafts Exhibition - Saturday and Sunday

The Victoria Hall in Sutton Scotney transformed over the weekend. Admission is free and doors open 10am-5pm on Saturday, 10am-4pm on Sunday.

7. Weeke Community Centre is celebrating its 60th anniversary - Saturday

Black tie dinner dance. The community has invited people who helped build it, the mayor, and tickets still available. Spitfire Sisters performing, raffle, three course meal. Starts at 7.30pm. Weeke Community Centre, Taplings Road, SO22 6HG.

8. Halloween craft centre - Saturday

Hampshire Chronicle: Meerkats rummaging for their Halloween feast at Twycross Zoo

All manner of ghosts and ghouls are coming to Stanmore this weekend with a free family event at the Carroll Centre. The Halloween Craft is open to children and their families from 10am-12pm at the library.

9. Aftermath Afloat: Harold Gilman and the Halifax Explosion - Saturday

A special exhibition, running until December 6, looks at the Halifax Explosion. A ship packed tight with munitions collided with another vessel in a Nova Scotia harbour causing a catastrophic exhibition killing some 2,000 people. It soon became a focus for photographers and artists. The event, running until December 6, is free and open from 10am-5pm.

10. All weekend: Find a place to sit around Kings Walk after the city council removed benches from around the fountain.
