ROSES, potatoes, and everything in between – this weekend saw the return of the Cheriton Village Show.

The compact village hall was filled with around 300 entries on Saturday (SEP 13) in 70 classes, covering the many tables displaying the fruits of residents’ labour.

There was a prize per class up for grabs, and 10 trophies were awarded to very-worthy winners.

The village youngsters played their part with a display at Cheriton Primary School, and every pupil entered an exhibit.

Organiser Viv Pain said: “It went really well. I think we had about 80 people come through the door and there were 50 exhibitors.

“I think it’s important to encourage the children to get involved and they like the competitive side of it. They are the gardeners of the future.”

Judging started at 10.30am, with public viewing at 2pm before the much anticipated prize-giving at 3pm.
