A WINCHESTER choir boy has been shortlisted to take part in this year’s BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year Award.
Tomas Magnusson, a Winchester College quirister – singers unique to the college, is set to perform at the finals at St Paul’s Cathedral on Halloween.
It will be broadcast on Thursday, November 13, at 10pm.
The 12-year-old Pilgrims’ School pupil said: “I enjoy singing duets with my friends an love Mendelsohn's music. The choir is a large part of my life and gives me great joy.
“My favourite memory of being a quirister was to sing the opening of I was glad by Parry with Eton, Kings College Cambridge and New College Oxford.”
Tomas lives in Ashmansworth with his mum Ellie Fane, whom he says has partly inspired his artistic side.
“I play two musical instruments, the piano and the euphonium,” he added.
“I am passionate about art because my mum is an artist and I spend my limited free time doodling and doing arty things.”
