EIGHT teams battled for victory at a family fun day to raise money for a junior cricket club.

The Easton Sixes tournament on Friday, July 25, at the David Roth Memorial Cricket Ground, near Winchester, drew crowds from across the county.

It was organised by the Easton and Martyr Worthy Cricket Club to raise funds for their junior development academy, which coaches and mentors players aged 13 to 21.

Club chairman, Adam Murch, said: β€œIt’s only the second time we have done it. The weather gods were kind to us. We probably had around 350 people turn up, and we had eight teams of six players. They played 15 overs. We also had an under-13s demonstration.”

The action kicked off on Thursday with a tug-of-war, and the fun day also included two bouncy castles, ice-creams, a hog roast.

The Chesnut Horse team took the crown, and 16-year-old Zack Mitchell won player of the day.
