WINCHESTER helped launch Hampshire’s very own Billy Elliot.
Now he’s coming back to say thank you by tap dancing for six hours to raise money for Naomi House Children’s Hospice.
Scott Miller will be joined by three of his fellow pupils at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts for the marathon session in the city’s High Street this Saturday.
In 2007 Scott, then an 11-year-old St Bede’s Primary School pupil, raised £10,000 so he could fulfil his dream of attending Tring Park School, based in Hertfordshire, by busking, cleaning houses and selling cookies.
The son of a former manager at the Wykeham Arms pub in Kingsgate Street has described the seven years that have followed as “perfect”.
“The school is just as good as I ever thought it would be. I do tap, ballet, jazz, modern and contemporary dance.
“This tap dancing event is my way of coming back and saying that I’ve not forgotten Winchester, and that I couldn’t have done all this without you.
“We’re hoping to go as crazy as we can.”
Scott’s eventual ambition is to become a dance teacher and choreographer.
