WYVERN College students have been raising money for an African orphanage by taking part in a special sleepover.

Around 20 pupils joined two teachers to spend the night at the school gym in a bid to raise money for St Trizah Orphanage School in Nakuru in Kenya.

The year 7s entertained themselves with a few games of capture-the-flag, benchball, and football-tennis, using a street ball made from plastic bags and tape.

Students were sponsored by parents, friends and neighbours as they tried to mimic the day-to-day activities of their Kenyan counterparts.

Teacher Steve Lines said: “In true Wyvern fashion, the students were great fun, thoroughly mature and remarkably generous.”

The event has seen the teachers, Mr Lines and Zoe Sterland, and the pupils raise £300 so far.
