A CHARITY shop's calls of DIY SOS calls have been answered with a celebrity guest.

TV presenter, Nick Knowles from Who Dares Wins visited the Naomi House charity shop in Eastleigh.

His visit came while staff from house builders Redrow Homes, who constructed the Abbotts Walk development in Winchester, gave the shop a complete makeover for free, taking just four days.

The Winchester-based children's hospice is the firm's charity of the year.

Last year the Eastleigh store raised £30,000 to support its services for youngsters with terminal illnesses.

Martin Efford, retail manager for Naomi House & Jacksplace, said: “I have been absolutely amazed at the scale and the quality of the work they have done.

“They have improved so many of the operational issues that we had in the shop and made it look fresh and inviting. I can't wait to re-open and see the customers' reaction.”

Nick, who also presented DIY programme, DIY SOS said: “This is another wonderful example of a community coming together to help each other, which I see every day in my work.

“We are as a nation capable of great things if we only realise the potential we have when we support each other.”
