COUNCIL bosses were flushed with pride when they this week revealed their new eco-toilets.
Winchester City Council has installed a ‘Propelair’ system in the ladies loos at Winchester Guildhall which flush using both air and water.
Each flush uses 80 per cent less water, cutting the amount of water used by 762,119 litres a year.
The council expects the toilets will save £38,500 in their 15-year life.
Environment chief Cllr Jan Warwick said: “I am pleased that we are able to save such a large amount of water as part of this relatively small refurbishment project.
“The amount saved is equivalent to filling up a full-size Olympic pool every three years. Our visitors and customers can be reassured that when they spend a penny it isn’t costing the earth.”
