WHILE most of us are cock-a-hoop with a new handbag and, frankly, astonished when our outfit is vaguely on-trend, there are some who will always aim much higher.

Take, for example, Rosie Wild, whose Alresford boutique has historically been a favoured supplier of none other than the Duchess of Cambridge.

Moda Rosa supplied one of the outfits for the recent royal trip down under, sourced during a discreet flit by Kate to her West Street store.

This week Rosie gave invited guests a guide as to what to wear at this year’s society Ascot, Henley and Wimbledon events at a lunch and fashion show at Winchester’s Lainston House Hotel.

Also showing off her latest designs was New Forest hat designer Vivien Sheriff, another of the duchess’ favourties.

“We’re basically going to be talking about dressing for the season, and the etiquette of what to wear,” said Rosie.

“Everywhere’s slightly different and you can get away with more at some than others.

“For example, Royal Ascot has got much stricter, with no halternecks any more.”

The lunch’s other aim is to raise awareness and money for The Haven in Wessex, a charity which offers support to breast cancer sufferers.

The charity’s chief executive Pam Healy was there to talk about plans for their new Hampshire centre, for which a large property has just been bought in Titchfield.

“The Haven care for people after they’ve had their treatment,” said Rosie.

“They provide the emotional support when they’re trying to pick up the pieces and get their lives back to normal.”
