WINCHESTER schoolchildren have been awarded for their swimming abilities.

Harestock Primary School pupils took part in the Swim for the Future project.

Winchester City Penguins Swimming Club run the project which aims to provide a free swimming course to children in years 5 and 6.

Each pupil at Harestock was given a certificate of achievement after completing the course, which serves as a top up session for children learning to swim.

The project is sponsored by Winchester Round Table and aims to reduce the number of children in Winchester who leave primary school unable to swim a minimum of 25 metres.
