FIRST there was Strictly Come Dancing, and now Winchester has its own dance campaign Step Up! Winchester.
Aimed at getting people off the sofa, and sashaying to the samba, the Winchester City Council initiative will see some of the cities VIP’s team up with local dance schools to prepare routines ready for the public event at the Guildhall on Sunday May 11.
Braving the stage is Joy Carter, Vice Chancellor of the University of Winchester, and James Cretney, Marwell Zoo’s chief executive.
There will be a spot of competition thrown in too, encouraging friends and families across Winchester and the district to get involved and get healthy.
Staff from the council recently took shoppers by surprise to publicise the event, with a flash mob in Winchester High Street.
Tickets are available from the Winchester Tourist Information Office.
