A SERVICE looking at life as a Scout during World War One is coming to Winchester on Friday.

Young scouts members will be displaying their clubs’ history at Winchester Cathedral.

The scouts will put on displays showing what scouting activities and camps would have looked like in that period as well as perform period music with the Fareham guides group.

There will also be a display showing scouting activities at Wolf Club during 1919-1925 and a performance from the Basingstoke Gang Show, a singing and dancing group.

The event will be Scout President, Dame Mary Fagan’s last as Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire and among those attending will be the Very Rev James Atwell, Dean of Winchester Cathedral and the Bishop of Southampton, the Right Rev, Jonathan Frost.

A service for Dame Mary with the theme reconciliation and peace will begin at 7.30pm.

The display will begin at 6.45pm and all activities will end by 8.50pm on Friday May 9.
