UKIP councillors are up in arms over the future of a Winchester hospital.

They protested outside the Royal Hampshire County Hospital on Wednesday (April 30) to raise awareness of the threat to the hospital and its services.

It comes amid proposals to build a centralised £120 million critical treatment centre between Winchester and Basingstoke.

Hampshire County Councillor Andy Moore led the campaign.

He said: “They are trying to close our hospital and our services are going to be affected.

“It’s a very important part of health and it serves our local community. I want transparency.”
