A UNIVERSITY estates team has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
The University of Winchester will go up against five other UK universities in the outstanding estates team category in the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2014.
The award will celebrate the achievements of universities that have redeveloped or renovated existing buildings, developed new buildings or implemented new estate management strategies.
This is the third time the University has been shortlisted for a Times Higher Education Leadership and Management award after it was shortlisted for the outstanding leadership and management team in 2010 and 2012.
It has also previously won a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Regional Award for outstanding design for its St Alphege Learning and Teaching Building.
Professor Neil Marriott, deputy vice-chancellor, said: “The University of Winchester’s estates team thoroughly deserves to win this award.
“It has helped transform some of the oldest parts of the campus by developing new buildings or redeveloping old buildings that enhance the student experience in surroundings befitting one of the country’s most modern and dynamic universities.
“Their efforts have also reduced significantly the university’s carbon footprint, energy and water usage despite continuing growth in student numbers.”
The winners are announced on June 17 at a gala dinner and awards ceremony in London.
