TEN Hampshire residents have been awarded for their services to the community.

At a ceremony in Winchester, the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire Dame Mary Fagan presented the British Empire Medal (BEM) Civil Division to ten Hampshire residents.

Among the recipients was Winchester resident Patricia Spiers, who was commended for her services to the community of her home city.

Rebecca Binstead, of Eastleigh, was awarded for services to UK Search and Rescue, and Maud Hobbs of North Waltham near Basingstoke was awarded for services to North Waltham Primary School and to education.

Steven Large, of Andover, was recognised for services to Brass Band music, and Geoffrey Morgan, of Pennington near Lymington, for his role as chairman of the New Forest and Hampshire County Show, and for services to farming, rural issues and heritage in Hampshire.

Lynne Caine and Julie Scarborough, both of Waterlooville, were awarded for services as funding officer for BASICS Hampshire, and to charity in Portsmouth and Havant.

New Milton resident Phyllis Inglis was commended for services to her local community, Muriel Deacon, of Portsmouth, for services to the Portsmouth Pensioners’ Association, and Jonathon Yates, of Lee-on-the-Solent for voluntary service to the Royal Marines Association Concert Band.
