WINCHESTER school girls have stepped forward to have their hair cut to raise money for a good cause.

Nearly 40 pupils from St Swithun’s School have decided to have their long locks chopped to raise money for The Little Princess Trust – a charity which provides wigs to children who have lost their own hair as a result of cancer treatment.

Cutting the girls’ hair was Guy Kremer and members of his staff.

Mr Kremer said: "It’s very exciting to do this. I know that little girls don’t want to lose their long hair; it can be a very traumatic experience for little girls and boys. There are 38 girls in total having their hair cut short enough to have it donated. It’s great to be part of it.

“I get very close to people having lived here so long and feel so close to everybody; maybe people know I’m a soft heart I suppose!

“There’s been a great team effort from everybody; there are 15 of us in all and it’s going to take quite a few hours to do everyone! I’ve never done a marathon cut like this before but I’m proud that we’ve all pulled together.”
