RESIDENTS in Eastleigh could soon be listening to their very own radio station.

A group of broadcasters, headed up by former Skyline Radio frontman David Gates, is leading the project.

“We are all local people who feel the current radio market in this area does not serve its local community as well as it could,” David said.

“It’s about time Eastleigh got its own voice. Over the past few years the town has grown and become a vibrant hub for entertainment and leisure we now want to bring all these together under one roof and tell the world just how proud we are to live in this area.

“We chose Spitfire Sound for a couple of reasons: firstly, of course, the Spitfire was designed and built here! It also has links to the local football club which we hope to work with to bring their skills to a wider audience, along with all the ‘little league’ teams out there.

“Spitfire Sound is dedicated to working in the community and plans to work with local schools, colleges, and the council to help raise awareness of what the media can do for our local community and to encourage social inclusion in our area.”
