DAREDEVILS in Winchester are preparing for the flight of a lifetime.

Four members of the Winnall Social Club, and the bar manager, will take to the skies for a hair raising parachute jump in aid of local charities.

Lottie Forder, director and treasurer of the club, said it is something they have always wanted to do.

“We said we would pay for the four members but they have to raise £500 or more for a local charity,” she said.

“We wanted to do it for someone local because there are a lot of big charities around Winchester, but the smaller ones don’t always receive as much support.

“They have all hit the £500 mark.”

To choose the lucky four jumpers, names were all drawn from a hat, and although bar manager Steve Statham’s name wasn’t pulled, his employer UTL agreed to sponsor him.

Joining him on March 29 is Sasha Clements, 22, Simon Williams, 24, Craig Barnaby, 42, and Julie Pain, 51, an early years practitioner at Triangle’s Pre School, who is looking forward to it.

“I want to throw myself out of a plane!” she said.

“It’s an all time thing that I have always wanted to do but raising money for the school where I work is an even bigger incentive.”

Mother of one, Sasha, has been fundraising for the Special Care Baby Unit, Simon for Friends of Osborne School, Craig for Lanterns Children Centre and Steve for St John’s Pre School, however Lottie said she won’t be following suit any time soon.

She said: “I did it three years ago for Naomi House.”

“I don’t remember most of it because I think I was in shock, so my feet will be staying firmly on the ground.”
