CHURCHGOERS in Colden Common were delighted when they received a cash boost towards their bathroom appeal.

A representative for Clancy Docwra, Graham Cleminson, handed over a cheque for £400 to Reverend Jonah Watts at the Holy Trinity Church on Main road in aid of the church’s toilet appeal.

Residents and businesses welcomed the donation from the firm, who have been contracted by Southern Water to carry out water works on Main Road, as the road closure has caused many problems for traffic and trade.

Project manager and fundraiser, Pam Glasspool, said: It has not been easy to get through on the roads but we just feel that what Clancy Docwra have done is the icing on the cake for us. Not only do they work jolly hard for us, but when they heard of our appeal and that we desperately wanted this new toilet they came good and offered us this donation.

“So we would like to thank them. We know that people travel a long way for family events, like weddings or funerals, and we have no facilities for them to use. We want to be able to offer facilities to those visitors but also to the people who use the church all year round.”
