A MAJOR Hampshire road has reopened after closing for several weeks because of flooding.

The A272 at Bramdean was shut at The Fox public house because the road was under several inches of water and bow waves from vehicles was swamping nearby homes.

The road was opened last night although only on one carriageway with traffic lights controlling the flow.

The closure of one of Hampshire main routes caused huge disruption for commercial vehicles.

A residents’ duck race on February 22 was marred when a motorcyclist threatened a resident who was trying to block his path.

The A32 at Farringdon remains closed.
