THE WONDERFUL rich history of Winchester is well-known to provide inspiration for architects, landscape artists and, more recently, watchmakers.

King Arthur’s Round Table and his band of 11 faithful knights are the latest icons to feature on a watch face of a Swiss manufacturer in his new ‘Excalibur’ collection.

Roger Dubuis’s modern-adaptation of the Arthurian period features 12 individually sculpted knights with the King himself sporting a crown aptly seated at 12 o’clock.

But anyone wanting this elaborate piece may need to raid his tomb first.

At an eye-watering £158,700 you’ll need more than the good graces of the Lady of the Lake to help you afford it.
